Another Year, Even More Pride

6 June, 2006

On Saturday, May 20th, from 9:00 AM to noon, residents of the Historic East Side turned out in record numbers to celebrate the 11th anniversary of Ypsi PRIDE by cleaning up Prospect Park.

Neighbors planted flowers, picked up trash, pulled weeds, and picked up fallen branches that were scattered throughout the park. The crowning jewel of the day was whipping the flower bed at the corner of East Cross and North Prospect into shape with the addition of landscaping, snapdragons, and petunias.

The day concluded with a picnic in Riverside Park for the second year in a row. Local Restaurants dontated food as part of a "Taste of the Town" lunch. Food was provided by local establishments such as The Sidetrack, Aubrees, Tios, Taqueria La Loma, Icescapes, and the Stoney Creek Coney Island.

PRIDE, which stands for People Restoring Image and Developing the Environment, not only helps the appearance of the community, but gives us a chance to meet new neighbors and catch up on news and happenings of our friends. A special thanks to everyone who came out and supported HESNA’s commitment to the community.
